Attendance Policy

Students attending Gateway High School must be in attendance (80) days out of the 90-day semester to
receive credit for a course. Skip days are never considered excused absences. Any student out of school or out of
class without the permission of the school, or parent, will be considered truant. Students who accumulate more than
ten (10) days of excused or unexcused absences per semester will not receive credit for the course except as
follows:

  • Absences beyond the allotted periods of instruction, which are due to documented, insurmountable medical
conditions will be reviewed by a district committee.

  • School activities such as field trips shall not be counted as absences. Assigned work shall be turned in on the
    day indicated by the teacher.

  • Students who have a passing grade and attain a passing score (60% or better) on a comprehensive subject
level examination given within ten (10) teacher work days of the end of the semester
in which the student was enrolled in the class can receive credit. Credit will be given
on a course-by-course basis provided the student passes the course and exam.
